“Remembering the best Kannada films based on region”
Writer Phani Srivatsa & Raksha Srinivas
Karnataka is a state of diverse languages, cultures and art
The dialect of the same language ‘Kannada’ also changes from region to region
’KANNADA CINEMA’ is one proud bounding part that unites the diversities and establishes the co-living of the masses
Sandalwood has been very successful in exploring the various flavours of culture and language in its movies and providing an apt representation of the respective localities
Here is a blog from Sripada Studios on account of ‘Kannada Rajyotsava’ that walks you through the sandalwood flavours over different parts of Karnataka
The region already sounds very powerful, raw, and manly. The Uttar Karnataka Khadak Bhashe and you also imagine men with yellow pheta and women with Nattu, the traditional nose pin. From then till now, we just remember “Kitturu” has the most patriotic region. The Kitturu Karnataka is of seven districts that gave us shady stories related to blood, Patriotism, Sex and honour killing.
Then the stories were created, sold, and marketed widely in BENGALURU CINEMA. In the nine regions, BKT – meaning Bengaluru, Kolar, and Tumakuru is the safe region for any filmmakers and producers. The stories which are created are way too general and format or template-based commercial films. But, few films that made us realize the importance of region are these.
Bengaluru is the mass of modern living, co-living with other languages. It’s a city full of life. Bengaluru is the city of love as well as interesting underground dark stories.
Start from the Nagarahaavu song
This is a region of heritage. The Vijayanagara samrajya Hampi is the crown of Karnataka. The dry regions of Bellary, Bidar and Raichur,Kalaburagi represent action, adventure, the heroic interesting stories. Movies such as Prithvi, Raam, Jaanu, Chowka shows us the flavour of these regions.
The most cinematic part of Karnataka is filled with picturesque regions, locations, culture and drama. The adventure and divinity of Navagraha, love and sacrifice in Mungaru Male, the beauty with the melody of Chaitrada Premanjali, the fresh breeze in Belli Kalungura, the Mandya language and vibes in Kirataka, Mandya.
The region is the new pan-India concept. Also, shout out to the recent Kannada films which are crossing borders to showcase our stories. Kantara, 777 Charlie and other films. We hope this blog has helped you to understand the Kannada Cinema. Thank You!
