1979 for his performance in Ondanondu Kaladalli. This was the first and only
time the award was presented under this title.

The documentary series is a profound exploration of the life, character, and achievements of the late Shankar Nag. Jignaasu draws inspiration from two books: Nanna Tamma Shankara by Sri Ananth Nag and Nenapinangaladalli Shankar Nag by Ganesh Kasaragod. Combining academic research, interviews with his close associates, and a wealth of facts and figures, the documentary seeks to address and validate many of the hypothetical questions surrounding this iconic figure.

This idea was first envisioned in 2020.

Phani Srivatsa and the team delve into the legacy of this
visionary cinema icon, known as the “Karate King” and
“Ajathashatru.” We honor his enduring influence on
cinema and beyond through his films, unique
perspectives, and life story.

This project aims to bring up the ideologies of Shankar
Nag which are still relevant to society and improve
society through rational thinking and progressive
approaches and a complete exploration of Shankar Nag’s
character, achievements, and the way of life he lived
which is an example for the mass who are struggling
with focusless life.

on primary and secondary research, as well as
interviews with Shankar Nag’s collaborators.
